Most folding scooters fold in five or six steps, and at least one of them needs two hands and a bit of luck. We set ourselves a simple rule for the Rulla: three moves, one hand.

Test on a train platform

We tested every prototype on a real train platform with a bag on one shoulder. Anything that needed a second hand or a careful look was redrawn.

One latch does the work

The final design uses a single latch at the stem. Release it, drop the stem, roll the scooter on its rear wheel. The fold locks itself, so there is nothing left to check.

It sounds small, but a fold you never think about is what makes people actually take the scooter with them.
